There is just something magical about an old lens with scuffed up exterior and little cleaning marks on the front element.

This kit has been my go to for a while now. Can’t deny I’m partly drawn to it for the vintage appeal and sexy collapsible mechanism.

Produced back in the 1930s to 1940, this lens still produces beautifully rendered images today. And I dare say it is one of the smallest F2 50mm lens I’ve come across so far.
It is well known that the glass of that time used for this lens is considered soft by today’s standards. As such very prone to scratches. Finding a decent copy took some time, but I soon realised that in my time of use, I have also contributed to a significant portion of the cleaning marks.

I have a handful of nifty 50s but this is the one I reach for on a daily basis. Guess that has to say something about how this lens renders reality.

I’ll let the photos show its character. And if you are an avid 50mm shooter, this is one lens I feel you should experience at some point in time. Tiny but with so much character.
